Lost Springs is located in northeastern Marion [MN] county. The city park has an impressive red stone marker (with bronze plaque) describing the Santa Fe Trail which passed though here. A few miles west of Lost Springs is the site of the old Lost Spring, a well-known campsite on the Santa Fe trail.

Highway 77 runs just east of town, and the UP and AT&SF railoads intersect at the northeast corner of town.
