   Lions Club
  Each fall, on the first day of pheasant season, the Lions Club Pancake Feed is held at the volunteer Fire Department from 6:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The second Saturday in April brings the Mountain Oyster/Fish Fry which features delicious oysters, fish, hot dogs for the weak of stomach, home potato salad, cole slaw, baked beans and a varity of desserts.

   Windom Senior Center   (620) 489-6471  For All Ages
  Located at Main and Center, the Senior Center is home to a variety of activities. On Tuesday through Friday mornings there's coffee and rolls from 7:30 to 10:30; Saturday morning is pancake time. On the fourth Monday evening of each month there is a community covered dish at 6:30 p.m. In 1999 the Sr. Citizens' received a $500 grant for small communities from PATH to promote preventative health practices for Srs. In 2000 the Sr. Ciitzens are participating in a pilot project and have received a $1000.00 grant from PATH and the Kansas Health Foundation for intergenerational activities. Other health services include:

  • Flu shots
  • Pre-school vaccinations
  • Blood pressure screenings

   Volunteer Fire Department   (620) 489-6200
  The well equipped volunteer department has a modern building at Walnut and Main. In addition to providing safety to the community, the Fire Department hosts a pig roast and covered dish the first Saturday in December, 6:00 p.m. for all residents in the Fire District. Firemen provide a tour and demonstration for all Windom Elementary school children in conjunction with Fire Prevention Week.

  Among its many activities, the Boosters host a soup supper on the last Saturday in October at the City Building from 4:00 to 7:00. Other activities include the Community/School Picnic the 3rd Sunday in September, an Easter Egg hunt the week before Easter, Christmas lighting ceremony, Main street, 6:00 p.m., the Sunday following Thanksgiving.

  TIGERNET is an umbrella (net) of community groups who promote support of Windom Elementary School children, faculty and staff through volunteers, emphasising the value of each child and intergenerational rapport. Supporting and/or endorsing members are: Windom Sr. Citizens, Windom Booster Club, Windom Lion's Club, Windom City Council, Windom Tree Board, Castle Township Board, Andover Lutheran Church, Windom Church of Christ, Windom United Methodist Church, Windom Elementary School, USD 444, Windom Site Council, Windom Fire Department.
