Strong City is located in Chase, [CS], County in the heart of the beautiful Flinthills on the Scenic Byway, Highway 177. The city itself is famous for its rodeo each summer. The rodeo is one of the first and largest P.R.C.A. approved rodeos in the nation. It attracts over 20,000 visitors in the first week of June and draws contestants from all over the world. The parade travels from Cottonwood Falls to Strong City, the two communities being one mile apart. The 1881 Z-Bar Ranch (also known as the Spring Hill Ranch) is located just 2 miles from Strong City on our nation's newest National Park, Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve. The ranch, with a wonderful stone house and famous outhouse, has 11,000 never-ploughed acres of prairie that form the heart of the prairie park. The National Park Trust operates the property.
