| History | |||||
|
We are proud to be a vital part of our community and to be
the center of many local activities. The Pretty Prairie Public Library was
formed in 1945 as a civic project of the Pretty Prairie Study Club. The
Study Club members took turns being the librarian until later, when it
became a city library at the general election in 1949, it was able to hire
a librarian. After 4 relocations, including a weigh station at the
Collingwood Grain Elevator, the Library remains at it its present location
on Main Street, in a building acquired by the City to accommodate both
City Offices and the Library. The contributions of the Booster Club, Lions
Club, the State Bank, the Pretty Prairie Study Club, the Beta Club, EHU
units and individual donations have made our library building, collection
and equipment purchases possible over the years. |
