Overbrook is located in northern Osage , [OS], county on highway US56 just east of US75. Its location offers convenient access to Topeka and to the University of Kansas at Lawrence. It lies between three federal reservoirs; Clinton, Pomona and Melvern. They offer fishing, boating, swimming, picnic areas and marina services. Osage County State Lake, six miles west on US 56, is a fishing lake with picnic areas and primitive camping areas.  Overbrook School Overbrook was located on what had been the Santa Fe Trail, but was not in existence while the trail was in use for the western migration. Fourth Street in Overbrook, marked "Santa Fe Trail", is the actual route through the town. The interesting old stone City Hall is on the corner of the Santa Fe Trail and Overbrook's main street, Maple.  Downtown Overbrook The town was laid out in 1886 when the Kansas-Nebraska-Dakota railroad came through this pioneer farm country. W. D. Coffman owned the farm east of the road that is now Maple Street and J. B. Fairchild the farm west of the road. Together they platted the original town. Fairchild later added one addition and Coffman five. The town was named by the railroad construction boss in honor of his hometown of Overbrook, Pennsylvania. The founders had considered Jasper (Fairchild?s first name) and Sunflower City.  Methodist Church The biggest public event each year is the Overbrook-Osage County Fair, held Thursday, Friday and Saturday of the first week in August. The Overbrook Fair Association owns the fairgrounds located on Cedar Street and manages the fair. The fair is primarily an agricultural exhibition featuring livestock, crops, and local crafts and hobbies. It includes a midway of carnival rides and other attractions.
