Utilities 		  Oskaloosa, the county seat of Jefferson [JF] County, is located in northeastern Kansas at the intersection of US59 and K-92. The rolling wood hills around Oskaloosa provide beautiful scenery and superb hunting. Perry Lake, a few miles west of town offers camping, fishing, and boating on one of Kansas' prettiest lakes.

The weekly Oskaloosa Independent began publishing July 11, 1860. Its masthead proudly proclaims: Six Months Older Than The State Of Kansas.

  • Old Jefferson Town on highway 59 contains buildings relocated from around Jefferson County. It gives a neat view of the lives of early settlers.

  • Parker Pharmacy has a real "old time" soda fountain. Stop in for malt.
