Churches Library Organizations Special Events | Nortonville is located in extreme northern Jefferson County
near the junction of U.S. 59 and K-4. It was surveyed in 1873 and was on the original
segment of the A.T. & S.F. between Atchison and Topeka.
Today it's a bustling little town with several interesting
buildings and churches. The street system is unusual
because many of the streets were built aligned with the railroad while others were
built on the north-south, east-west system. A park downtown offers nice picnic opportunities.
There's a new (2000) city hall/library building showing more evidence of local pride and vitality.
