This year is the 30th anniversary of the book The Last Cattle Drive which was written by Robert Day. One of the towns along the route was Luray, Kansas on K-18. Luray held a celebration on September 5, 2007, to mark this event. A parade was held with characters from the book, the calf Tic-Tac-Toe and the cat Rabies, with Robert Day as the Grand Marshall. Cowboy Bob, Will Rogers and Wild Bill Hickock entertained the crowd dining on a free barbeque sponsored by UMB Bank. Home made ice cream was served in old furniture store of Mack-Welling among the original furniture and items from the Mitchel Drug Store of Waldo, Kansas. Beer and pop were served in the Yellow Dog Saloon that was once the hardware section of the Mack-Welling Store. Bob Day signed 30th anniversary copies of his book while Cowboy Bob sang to the crowd.
