Welcome to Luray
Halfway between Paradise and the Garden of Eden
The Last Cattle Drive in Luray.
Luray really can claim to be halfway between Paradise and the Garden of Eden, because it lies along Highway 18, about midway between the small town of Paradise to its west and the Garden of Eden in Lucas to the east. Of course the original coiners of this now-famous phrase had another meaning in mind.
So what does Luray have that makes it a little bit of heaven on earth?
Everyone works together to create a golf course, build a cafe, open a library and recycling center, just to name a few of the accomplishments in this tiny town. The friendliness and kindness of the people make smalltown life enjoyable here. It's a safe place to be, with good schools and most of the necessities of life.
No one feels isolated in Luray. Yes, it's a small rural town, but yet it can be the gateway to many pleasures: Wilson Lake and the golf course, to name a few.
