 *   Bowl Plaza of Lucas is now open after several hours of volunteer work along with the skills of the local artists creating wonderful mosaics. Mosaic stories are on the outside of the building and around the toilet seat. Then you walk inside the restrooms to find more mosaic stories on the walls using old wine bottles, Clorox bottles, Avon bottles, and plates and tea cups. Each time you “go” inside you find something new that you didn’t see the last time.

 *   The Garden of Eden
Samuel Perry Dinsmoor, a retired schoolteacher, Civil War Veteran, farmer and Populist politician, began building the Garden of Eden and Cabin Home in 1907 at the age of 64. For 22 years he fashioned 113 tons (2,273 sacks) of cement and many tons of limestone into his unique "log" cabin with its surrounding sculptures. He opened his home to guests, conducting tours on the first floor and through the yard from 1907 until a few years before his death in 1932. Now owned and operated by a group formed to preserve it, the site is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and welcomes more than 10,000 visitors annually.   (785)-525-6395

 * Grassroots Art Center
The works of 17 Grassroots Artists are on display in this one of a kind Arts Center. "Grassroots art" is a term describing art made by people with no formal artistic training . . .(usually of retirement age) using ordinary materials in an extraordinary way.
The Post Rock Courtyard speaks eloquently of the resilient first settlers who were undaunted by the absence of trees and learned to cut out the abundant stone for fences, laid up hasty shelters on their homestead claims and then used the honey-colored stone to proclaim a permanent stake in the land with good solid barns, bridges, homes and churches which have stood for more than a hundred years.   (785) 525-6118
