Leoti, the county Seat of Wichita [WH] county, is located
at the intersection of highways K-96 and K-25.
The downtown area features brick-inlaid sidewalks, park benches,
and beautiful trees and flower planters.
The attractive white-columned Wichita County Courthouse is a couple
of blocks south of Broadway (K-96).
Leoti is famous as one of the participants in the bloodiest county seat fight in the history of Kansas. The Leoti-Coronado county seat fight was chronicled in the New York Times. Obviously, Leoti won and Coronado eventually became a ghost town. |
