Johnson City is the county seat of Stanton [ST] County. The trees that define the town are a welcome sight on the flat prairies and huge fields that cover the area. Highway K-27 and US-160 intersect at Johnson City and the Cimarron Valley (formerly Santa Fe) railroad also serves through the town.History
Johnson City was founded by Civil War veterans and was first called Veteran. In 1886 the town was moved 7 miles and renamed for Colonel A. S. Johnson, one of the veterans.Special Events
