Wear Blaze Orange
- Two of the most common hunting accidents occur when the shooter swings on a game animal and shoots a hunter in the line of fire, of when an unseen hunter is in the line of fire. Wearing blaze orange reduces the chances of this happening. It will also reduce the chances of a hunter mistaking you for a game animal.
Trespass
- It is illegal to hunt, shoot, pursue or trap on private land without the owners permissions. Hunting from public road requires permissions of landowners on both sides. Railroad rights-of-way are controlled by the railroad.
Written permission is required to enter land posted with hunting and/or trapping "By Written Permission Only" signs or having trees on fence posts painted with purple paint.
It is recommended that landowner permission be obtained before pursuing wounded game onto private property. If you can not find the landowner or get permission, contact your local conservation officer.
