Two lakes located just one mile west of Herington offer electric camping facilities, swimming and water sports, trophy bass, and some of the best small lake walleye fishing in Kansas. There's an abundance of game in the Herington area, and public hunting (for migratory wildfowl only) is allowed at the Herington Reservoir.

We have many parks (North - Father Padilla Memorial Park, South Park,
Westside Park, Pocket Park, & Liggett Memorial Park)

North - Father Padilla Memorial Park has playground equipment, gazebo,
swimming pool, skate park, basketball court, walking track around pond
with decorative lighting and fountain, fishing, Frisbee golf, picnic
area (I think there is a grill; will check on)

South Park has playground equipment, picnic shelter, basketball court,
tennis court, baseball fields, soccer/flag football fields, miniature train.

West side park has playground equipment and picnic area w/grill and
decorative lighting.

Pocket park has beautiful landscape and picnic table....great for
meetings or lunch.

Liggett Memorial Park has beautiful landscape w/gazebo....great for
taking pictures.

The Fairgrounds park at the south end of town has a miniature train for children to ride on summer evenings. Baseball, tennis, skating, and swimming are all offered in the city's park system.

The city also has an excellent museum and library.
