Journey Stories, is a traveling Smithsonian Institution exhibition that will be touring Kansas 2009-2010. Kansas was selected as one of
only 5 states to host this premier exhibition examining the history of American transportation.
The Glasco Community Foundation was selected by Kansas Humanities Council for this honor. Their part of the exhibit will feature the History of U. S. Highway 24 through the
Solomon Valley.
Journey stories - tales of how we got "here" - are as American as apple pie. Why did our ancestors come to America? Why did our families choose Kansas as home?

The Glasco Historic Museum, located on Main Street, developed by the Glasco Community Historical Society, is celebrating it 10th anniversary. Its collection
features early businesses, family life, agriculture and the role of local veterans
Glasco's "Downtown" was placed on the National Register of Historic Sites in November, 2002.
Glasco gained nationwide notice as a route pit stop for the 1995 and 1997 Sunrayce--a solar powered auto race. Now known as North American Solar Challenge
drivers participating in this Indianapolis to Colorado Springs contest, stopped their specially designed cars "downtown" to eat and change drivers. Race fans, participants, and college crews gave Glasco high praise for their warm welcome.

The
Cloud County Stained Glass Tour includes all four Glasco's churches. Each church contains distinguished stained glass, some very old, as in the Christian and Catholic churches, and some contemporary, as in the Methodist and Lutheran churches.
The Glasco City Library, located in the City Hall Building on Main Street, regularly displays unique collections of memorabilia and art. Drawing on the
resources of the community, the art committee presents amazing exhibits ranging from tea pots to Indian artifacts, from aprons to eggs and valentines. Hospitality abounds in Glasco! |
