The Girard Public Library is housed in a Carnegie building built in 1906. The library is a full service library and offers more than 25,000 volumes and 85 magazine subscriptions. Resources include reference and research materials, popular adult and juvenile fiction, paperbacks, newspapers, inter-library loan service, and senior rotation books. Public access computers are available for Internet access and word processing.
The newly remodeled basement houses the children's area and an extensive Crawford county history & genealogy collection which includes microfilm sources.

The Girard Public Library addition was completed in April of 2002 and is fully handicapped accessible with an elevator, restrooms and parking. Come in and use the new facility. There are meeting rooms for the public, a large more functional genealogy/history area. A computer lab with 6 computers upstairs for Young Adults and Adults and a lab on the main level with 4 computers for the children. We have plenty of tables and chairs and a comfortable seating area for reading the newspapers or magazines. Use the convenient parking lot on the north side of the building. We hope to see you soon.
Library Mission Statement The Girard Public Library exists to provide a professionally selected and well organized collection of books and multi-media materials for the residents of the community and surrounding area in their pursuit of knowledge, information, education, research, and recreation in such a manner to enrich the quality of life and promote an enlightened citizenry.
Access to the collection will be assured through a well-trained and courteous staff, an adequate facility, and appropriate outreach services.
The Library shall endeavor to cooperate with all appropriate local, state, and federal agencies and shall keep abreast of changing library technology and practice.
All of the above shall be done in a fiscally responsible manner.
