Geneseo, located in
Rice County,
lies on top of the divide between the Little Arkansas and the Smoky Hill.
It's central location made it an early center for railroading: At one time, it was
served by the AT&SF, Frisco, and Missouri Pacific railroads. Only the UP
still passes throught Geneseo, but highways K-4 and K-14 provide easy access
to the rest of the world. The town is close to Ellsworth, Lyons, McPherson,
Great Bend, Hutchinson, Salina - all within 30-45 minutes.
Methodist Church For those seeking recreation, Geneseo is close to Kanopolis Lake - only 16 miles to the dam. The lake offers great fishing and hunting, and two beautiful state parks in the area provide other opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. Geneseo also has its own nine hole golf course.
While your're in Geneseo, make arrangements to visit the Geneseo Museum,
which is stuffed with memorabilia of Geneseo's past. The local
library also has a good collection of
materials related to the history of the area.
