Geneseo, located in Rice County, lies on top of the divide between the Little Arkansas and the Smoky Hill. It's central location made it an early center for railroading: At one time, it was served by the AT&SF, Frisco, Union Pacific and Missouri Pacific railroads. Only the UP still passes through Geneseo, but highways K-4 and K-14 provide easy access to the rest of the world. The city is close to Ellsworth, Lyons, McPherson, Great Bend, Hutchinson, Salina - all within 30-45 minutes.
