Library Endowment

The Library Board established an Endowment Fund for the library in 1996.  This fund was established to help the library in the future with projects such as the elevator and the completion of the basement and also to help with funding of library programs so that less tax dollars will be needed to keep the library operating.

We hope that this endowment will continue to grow with the help of donations from the community and friends of the library.  At the present time, the library is funded from four sources.

The majority of the funding comes in the form of tax money received from the city, in a separate tax levy.

We also receive money & services from the Central Kansas Library System which receives its money from the rural areas including Ellsworth County.

The third source of funds is from the State in the form of a grant which is $2170.00.

The fourth source of funds is donations, fines and rentals and gifts to the library.

In the past several years, it is these gifts which have made the new addition possible and have also allowed us to add to and improve our collections and services.  If you would like more information please contact the Library.
