Fun for Kids
- Damar has a wonderful park that offers a great place for kids to play and for friends and family to gather. Located next to the Knights of Columbus Hall on Main Street, the park features a playground, sheltered picnic area, BBQ grill, horseshoe pit, and restroom facilities. All facilities are free to the public on a first come, first serve basis and are perfect for family gatherings and group events.
The City recently completed a renovation project for the park as a part of it's continuing Main Street beautification. More information on the Park Renovation Project may be found at the following website: Damar City Park Renovation Project
A fenced basketball court is also located next to the Hall and the Damar Jr. High School features a playground and basketball court.
In addition to the sports and activities offered through the school system, a newly formed "Palco-Damar-Zurich Recreation Commission" offers organized activities for youth and adults throughout the year.
- Damar and the surrounding area provide outstanding hunting and fishing opportunities for the outdoor sportsman. Enthusiasts from across Kansas and even from surrounding states converge on this area for pheasant hunting each year. Quail and dove are also plentiful in the area.
The creek bottoms and areas surrounding the Solomon River and Webster lake provide excellent hunting opportunities for deer, turkey, various waterfowl, and coyotes.
Nearby Webster Lake and State Park, with 880 park acres, offers excellent fishing for walleye, catfish, wiper, bass, rainbow trout, and crappie. The park includes electrical and water hookups, a bath house, boat ramps, docks, beach, tent camping, and trails.
With all of these opportunities, Damar is truly an outdoorsman's paradise.
