Although Cawker City is a small town, you will find that there is plenty to do for fun. In addition to the city park with its playground equipment, horseshoe pits, and tennis and basketball court, other recreational opportunities include Waconda Lake and the Lakeside Golf Course

South from Cawker City
Waconda Lake (also known as Glen Elder Reservoir), the third largest reservoir in Kansas behind Tuttle Creek and Milford, is located just southeast of Cawker City. It extends from just south of Cawker to the dam by Glen Elder eight miles to the east, including the area where Waconda Spring used to be. This beautiful lake has 100 miles of shoreline and a surface area of 12,586 acres. Glen Elder State Park, two miles west of Glen Elder on Highway 24, has camping areas overlooking the lake.
Besides camping and water sports on the lake, the area is also well known as an excellent place for fishing and many types of hunting.

The Lakeside Golf
Course, Cawker City, Kansas
One mile east of Cawker City on Old Highway 24 is the Lakeside Golf Course. Overlooking Waconda Lake to the South, this is a great opportunity for any golfer. The nine hole course's artificial grass greens present an interesting challenge. Cart storage is also available at the newly built clubhouse/cart storage building
