|
Description Cambridge is located in Cowley [CL] County on US-160. The town is built on a beautiful site on a group of hills on the edge of a valley overlooking Cedar creek. The paved county road leading north past the old school turns into a scenic drive that eventually gets you up to highway KS-96 in Butler County.
History Cambridge was named for the university in England. It had a school as early as 1888.

The old school buildings in the north part of town are still maintained and used for comunity functions. There is a nice small old bank building on the south side of highway US 160 at the main corner; notice the handmade stone column.
There's a well done mural called "The Count" on the east side of the Stockmans Cafe.
Don't miss the old stone public toilets beside the highway. Fine workmanship for a humble purpose.
