The Beloit Juvenile Correctional Facility, formerly the Youth Center of
Beloit, was formally put into operation on February 1, 1888. A need was
recognized for a placement resource for young girls who were dependent and
neglected or were experiencing behavioral difficulties. The BJCF was erected
on a site located one mile north of the City of Beloit on a 70-acre tract that
was donated to the State by the City. The Correctional Facility, also
known as the North Beloit High School, is fully accredited for grades 7-12
and special education is offered to the residents in need. Over a span of
100 years, there have been many improvements to the facility. The state
payroll at this facility greatly enhancers the economic strength in Beloit
and surrounding communities. You can learn more about the facility at their
website at www.ink.org/public/kjja/
