The Willow Springs Arts Council is inactive at this time but the Depot
is still used for some activities in the community.
A history of their previous activity follows;
The objective of the Willow Springs Arts Council is to stimulate the arts and provide arts programming for persons in North Central Kansas. This is accomplished by planning and executing programs which provide opportunity for local artists to perform or exhibit their work and by bringing to the community performers from other areas. The need for this function is demonstrated by the very positive community response by both performers and the audiences. Being a small rural community far from any urban center makes access to many cultural events difficult. A major project undertaking by the Arts Council in the past few years has been the acquisition and restoration of the former Union Pacific depot. The depot was converted into a small theater and is now available for receptions, meetings, plays and entertainment. Funding for this project was by donations and the work was done by volunteers.
