NCK Farm & Home Expo & Health Fair Friday March 16, 5:00 - 8:00 PM Saturday March 17, 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM 4-H Building, Fairgrounds, Belleville, KS "Click Here for Health Fair Flyer"   Belleville is located at the junction of highways 36 and 81, and is the county seat of Republic [RP] county. The downtown is built around the courthouse square which is the center attraction for several events during the year. The mural on the side of the building at 19th & M Street (shown below) was designed by Pat Mikesell - Advantage sign & Awning, painted by Pat Mikeselll and Denise Dove in 1995. The Tourist Information Center on US 81 serves coffee, gives directions & suggestions, and seems to have every known Kansas tourism pamphlet and brochure. The Belleville High Banks race track has a very impressive stone grandstand as shown above. It's home to the Belleville Midget Nationals races. The Highbanks Hall of Fame and National Midget Auto Racing Museum commemorates the grand history of the Belleville Highbanks. Public works facilities here were built with a grand vision. See the swimming pool, the stone grandstand, the middle school, the WPA art exhibit at the Belleville Public Library and even the power plant. The North Central Kansas Free Fair is held in Belleville each year. Over many years, the fairgrounds and parks on the north side of town have grown into an impressive complex. The Republic County Historical Museum complex on US 36 is well worth visiting.
