Wade Wentworth graduated from GHS and entered the army in 1939 to 1945. He spent most of his life working as a long haul truck driver. Some of the cities that he lived in were Denver, CO, Tillamook, Oregon, Tucson, Arizona, and Rockford, Illinoiss. He had a short marriage to a lady named La Vera Wentworth that lasted for about six years. He later on met and married my mom Francis Wentworth in 1954. His memories of Grinnell and the fine people there were often spoken to people he met in his travels. Wade passed away in Tucson, Arizona in July of 1986. Anyone that knew him I would love to hear from you. Ralph Wentworth--son. Went757@suscom-maine.net Have a great day.
Put two years in for Uncle Sam. Married Loretta Zimmerman in 58. Raised Stan, Annette, Lisa, Mike, and Amy.(whew) Still on the family farm. Rocking chair money is getting closer.
After completing GRHS (yes, it was called "Grinnell Rural High School when I graduated in 1954!") I attended Kansas State studying Architecture and then transferred to the University of Kansas where I received a BS in Business Administration - Accounting. At KU I was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army and was called to active duty in the summer of 1959. After 20 plus years in the Army, having served in various posts stateside, West Germany and South Vietnam, I retired as a Major. Currently I live on top of historic Lookout Mountain in northeast Alabama near Chattanooga. Since retirement (in 1979) I have been able to do considerable travel including many trips to England, Scotland and Wales plus Germany. My hobby interests include genealogy which lead me into the Sons of the American Revolution where I have served in offices at local, state and national levels. Despite health problems I continue to enjoy living the good life. If you are in this part of the woods come see what I enjoy about living in the woods on top of a mountain. Looking forward to the class reunion in 2005!
I have lived in Clyde, Kansas, since 1960. I was married to Bill Bechard (class of '53) who passed away in 1998. I have 3 children, 7 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild. Until retirement in 1998, I worked for 19 years in the business office of the local special education cooperative. I like to travel and pretty much do what appeals to me at the moment. I married Bob Condray in 2001.
Went to St.Benedicts for a year, went to the Army 1956 to 1958. Got married in 1960 to Flo Zerr. We have 3 children. Went to work at the Hoxie State Bank in 1965 and have been there until now 7-2-04 will retire Dec.31,04. We like to travel, have done quite a bit, but want to do more. I play golf, not very well, but enjoy it. I enjoy collecting IHC toy tractors.
In June 1960 I attended Personal Training School in Omaha, NE. I worked as bookkeeper for Struckhoff Bros. Garage in Grinnell from Jan. 1961 to July 1971. In Sept of 1971 I went to work for J.E. Borah Ins. Agency. It sold to Crownover Ins Agency of Oakley, Inc. in Oct of 1973. I was married to Charles H. Huelsmann April 20, 1979. My husband Charles Huelsmann and I purchased the Agency in January of 1986. I have resided in Grinnell all my life. President from 1968 to 1996, Grinnell Youth PRIDE Sponsor from 1980 to now. I enjoy helping my customers and my community. Guess that's why I stay here.
