Poetry of Kansas

Feathered Revelry

The birds are gay within my yard,
    They sing and preen above the pool;
They steal my grapes, each feathered bard.
    The birds are gay within my yard.

They build their nest and stand on guard;
    When danger lurks, a fight's the rule.
The birds are gay within my yard,
    They sing and preen above the pool.
