Pig

Ten hundred million home rejoiced
'Twas the ending of the war!
A little boy with joyous heart
    Slipped softly out the door.

They found him on the barnyard fence
    Just talking to a pig.
The bright boy thought his heart would burst
    It had swelled so big.

And he shouted to his curl-tailed friend
    (He thought they were alone)
"Pig! Pig! the war is over!
    My daddy's coming home!"
