Poetry of Kansas

November Midnight

Slate grey sky washed clean with moonlight after rain,
Stars like sprinkled bits of tinsel
Chalk smear of cloud low along the horizon,
The black lace-work of leafless trees,
Like a Japanese print in black and white and grey
And around a turn in the road,
The dark silhouette of a house
With a light in a window
Home .   .   .
