Poetry of Kansas

My dear, my dear,
If I should pass that strange and too vague portal
That leads into the great unknown,
And leave you here--
I doubt if I should find serenity.
And then, if you should sin or go astray,
And passing on, would enter in another realm,
A different plane of thought than mine,
And through the eons I should seek and find you not,
Where would my heaven be?
