My WishSome heart may find repose, Or sunshine come from rifted clouds On paths where briers grow, I will be glad that I have lived And God has made it so, I could give out a blessing To some heart and courage give To those with sadness And make them glad to live. The birds are singing glad today Above my window sill, They fill my heart with peace and love, For God is with us still. Then courage take and celebrate With me each new-born day, Rejoice in God's great love and know He'll guide you all the way. And if we stumble we may rise And breast again the gale, He'll lead us through the thorn strewn path His love can never fail. I am uncertain of the fate This booklet may receive, God knoweth best and I am blessed Thus knowing to believe That He will watch above it Till some hearts are made to know, That rain and sunshine make the flowers, The pretty flowers to grow. And thus like them we must expect The shadow and the shower, And knowing this we also know There'll be a brighter hour. Then smile though briers grow apace In fields where grain was sown, For through His love and boundless grace He knows and guards His own. And as the opening of the rose Reveals its beauty so, The opening gates of paradise Some day will let us know. __Nettie Squire Sutton. |
