Destinythere! But this we know, we're in God's care And God doth guide our bark where we should go, Will guide aright our footsteps; He doth know And He the helmsman of our bark so frail Will guide aright, His love can never fail. Tho' storms and floods o'ertake us, tears and grief, Until we fear we'll soon be ship- wrecked on some reef, Nor doth the silver lining of the cloud appear Thus to dispel our doubts or dry the tear, Until we see God's hand is guiding on And learn to say with faith, "Thy will be done." Frail man may think he's at the helm To guide his own bark through this earthly realm. 'Tis true we shape our destiny to some extent But all things must be done with His consent. And after all our hopes may not avail His way is best; His love can never fail. So place we still our trust in God and be content Though storms of doubt o'ertake us. Jesus went Through deeper gloom. He our Heavenly Lord Still points us onward to our grand reward. And when at last we reach our heav- enly home We'll see why then, we'll "Know as as we are known." __Nettie Squire Sutton. |
