Joy in the Corn Belt
- The seed is in the clover,
- The ear is in the shuck,
- The melons shout, "Come Out, come out,
- And eat this garden-truck."
- The yellow ears are for the steers,
- The white are for the swine;
- Their hair and hides and bacon sides
- Are all for me and mine.
- The cider mug is by its jug,
- The sweet potatoes fry;
- And ma is shovin' in the oven
- Pumpkin custard pie.
