Fall In Line ComradesThe sound of the bugle blast blowing again; Turn out! Turn out! Fall in to line, As we did in the days of Auld Lang Syne. Fall in line, we'll march to the music again, To which often we followed o'er hillside and plain, trough long weary marches 'mid rain, sleet and snow, In the toiling campaigns of long, long ago. But the bugle call now is a herald of peace, high brings back old memories that never will cease, To recur to our minds while memory holds sway: Then fall in line! Fall in line! We'll march away. But many a comrade whose name we hold dear, Who followed our fortunes for many a year: To reveille responds not___his warfare is o'er, in with us at camps and reunions no more. But the old starry banner waves proudly as ever, Its stars all unsullied, no foe man can sever; Then at sound of the trumpet we'll march, march away, And follow Old Glory forever and aye. __Richard S. Dunbar. |
