The Penalty

        All day within my busy mind,
        I'm cutting patterns out,
And whether they are grave or gay,
Keep flinging them about;
        And what seems queer to me, my dear
That, be they fat or thin,
        Or short or tall, I don them all,
And have to walk there-in.
