Poetry of Kansas

Night is come,
And o'er the dreaming earth
Shuts, soft and warm,
Like God's great tender hand outspread
To keep us safe from harm.
Between the interlaced clouds
Each golden star-eye blinks
In softened glory-like God's smile
Ashining thru His fingers' chinks.
