Smiles

There are smiles that make us happy,
There are smiles that make us sad,
There are smiles that are enchanting
In every home and land.
There is a, smile upon the desert,
In the air and in every nook,
There are smiles in distant memory,
Smiles that make the tear drops start.
 
There are smiles that have a meaning
That love of nature to us impart;
To the bride and groom always true,
There is a smile down deep in every heart.
There is a smile for today and tomorrow,
A smile of hope that guides us, safely on,
There is an honest smile that we cherish,
The smile of truth in all women and men.
 
There is a smile over the hills and valley,
There is a smile across the mirrored plains.
There is a smile in the doorway
Of the sod house on the claim.
There are smiles of our school days,
That Nature has welled forever,
Scenes so sacred to us all
That in one grave will lie together.
