RemembranceEven though with age his hair is grey, He will have to stand alone To meet his written page. He may have health and wealth today And friends, too, by the score, No matter what his color be, Whether white, red, black or brown, Tomorrow bad luck may knock At his kitchen door. Just look this wide world over, At the money that is ill-spent, All the poor could have a home And no one miss a cent. So help the poor and needy As you travel on your way, Remember, when you leave this earth The Lord will give you pay. Read about the sheep and goats That were on His right and left; The sheep are Mine, He said, They help us with all their might. To have these words said unto us all, What hope, what joy and mirth You will live with me forever more For what you did on earth. The Plains Poems in Kansas
