| TRIPLETS, born of earth and sea,
Born as all, we must agree, Born of water and of earth, Which the miry depths gave birth. Children of our mother-land, Grand, serenely, here ye stand; Monuments of beauty, fair, None of earth can e'er compare. Through the ages here ye stood, Ye who form a sisterhood; Stand alone here to attest, He who puts our doubts at rest. Trinity alone can prove Mighty powers which slowly move; Lifting hidden lands from night, Darkened minds to see the light. These thy verdant slopes return Beauty to the minds who learn; Nothing is a desert waste, Yielding fruit of pleasant taste. Would we blot thee from the earth, Ornaments of greatest worth? Blaspheme thee, as men of doubt, Blotting their Creator out? Ever be the land accurst, Men condemned from last to first, Naught can harm the evidence Present, Past, and Future tense. Though the lowlands blush to own Mountain heights or crags of stone; Man refuse to own aloud___ God will judge the haughty, proud. __James A. DeMoss |
