| LIKE to some mighty stream, Life floats away.
As with almighty power the waters seek The level of the ocean, broad and deep, So Life sweeps on through time and will not stay. Shallow or deep, with waters clear or dark, All Life must hurry to one common end; Bearing their weighted loads, they onward tend, Borne up by thought, whose grand, immortal spark Enlivens hope within the weary breast__ Inspiring food, the journey here to test__ And lifts Life o'er the stubborn wave of time, Through storm and wind into the perfect calm; Into eternal Day, where heaven's balm Shall sweeten Life into a merry chime. __James A.
