General
The Washington County Historical & Genealogical Society Board of Directors meets at the Museum Family History Center on the third Thursday of every month except March, June, September and November.  The quarterly general meetings are held in March, June, September and November and rotates among the cities in Washington County.  (See the schedule below for the next meeting date, time and location.)
Quarterly General Meetings
The next quarterly meeting will be held on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at the Kloppenberg Center, Hanover, Kansas.  Presentation will be on the Fleagle Gang by Dr. Dale Hiesterman.  The meetings begin at 7:30 p.m. There is no charge to attend these meetings.  Everyone is welcome.

Membership
Membership in the WCHGS is open to anyone interested in Washington County Kansas history and/or genealogy.  Dues are:
$10.00 / yr., individual or family (January - December)
$100, individual life membership
$150, family life membership
Membership includes free use of research facilities with approval, quarterly newsletter, and attendance at quarterly meetings which have guest speakers.

Quarterly General Meetings

The next quarterly meeting will be held on Thursday, November 15 at 7:30 P.M. at the First National Bank Basement, Washington, Kansas. 

Mitch Zabokrtsky will present "Life On An Oregon Trail Wagon Train".

During this presentation we will learn:  1) why the settlers headed West, 2) securing of equipment and supplies, 3) obstacles and perils along the trail, 4) daily life and activities along with other interesting information.

Mitch was born at Enosdale in Southwest Washington County where his parents operated the Enosdale Store.  He is a retired educator graduating from Steele City High School and Emporia State University.  

Everyone is welcome - all ages will enjoy this interesting  history.  This is free to the public.
