What Are Reading Cards?
The Ritchie House Project has developed a series of reading cards based on the family's story. These educational tools are directed toward 5th graders. Support materials in the form of lesson plans and/or primary source material will soon accompany each. These cards have been designed to correspond to the Curriculum Standards adopted by the state of Kansas. Each card may meet the standards of different disciplines depending on the accompanying source material.
The Shawnee County Historical Society would like to express special thanks to Deb Goodrich for writing these cards and also to Territorial Kansas Online, a website produced by the University of Kansas and the Kansas State Historical Society that allowed the courtesy of using their images to produce these reading cards for educational purposes.
