The Heartland Chapter of REFORMA was founded in 1997 to promote library services to Spanish speaking people in the midwestern United States. Membership is open to all interested library staff, sustainers, supporters, and students.
Mission Statement: The Heartland Chapter of REFORMA is committed to advocate and support the delivery of quality library services and information to Latinos and the Spanish-speaking.
Goals:
- Advocate the development of Latino materials and resources in library collections
- Develop services and programs to meet the needs of the community
- Provide networking opportunities with professional librarians and support staff
- Support and establish partnerships with organizations that serve Latinos and Spanish-speaking communities
- Provide continuous education opportunities for libraries to promote the understanding of the issues and needs for library services to Latinos and the Spanish-speaking
