Marshall's Band Endures

The members of Marshall's Civic Band would like to thank Mayor Butch Felker and Topeka Parks and Recreation for their support of the summer concert series.

For more than 100 years, Marshall's Civic Band has brought music to Topeka's summer evenings. A Sunday concert in the park has given parents an excuse to plan a picnic and an opportunity for children to populate the swings and jungle gyms.

The concerts are a chance to see old friends and enjoy a cool drink and maybe some popcorn.

Marshall's Civic Band helped Topekans see hope through the Great Depression, the two world wars and some of the hottest days summer could throw at us.

Families have made the band's Sunday evening concerts a tradition to pass down to their children. The concerts also bring in visitors from outside Topeka to sample our dining and buy from our stores.

Marshall's Civic Band has brought the Topeka community together every summer since 1884. And it is because of support from the city and its residents that the band continues.

Marshall's Band is a community value we all can uphold.
