Purpose:
- To promote both youth and adult leadership education in Kansas as a key component to
individual and community development;
- To enhance Kansas leadership education by establishing relationships for the exchange of
ideas, information and research among participating leadership programs;
- To develop an environment that encourages the translation of the leadership theory and
research into practice (linking the scholar with the educator and practitioner);
- To encourage the creation of new "educational partnerships" between Kansas
leadership programs (including research sharing and cooperative programming); and
- To provide opportunities for personal and professional development.
Functions:
- Publish a comprehensive directory of Kansas leadership programs.
- Conduct an annual state conference for leadership educators to learn and share new
leadership theories and ideas and assist in nurturing relationships between leadership
programs.
- Develop a clearing-house / resource center for distributing instructional and leadership
materials.
- Publish a newsletter to inform and update KLF members on a regular basis.
- Sponsor regional seminars throughout the state as needed.
