REGULAR MEETING KANZA CHAPTER OCTA 1/10/2010

12 people signed the attendance register for a total of 52 hours and 585 miles.

 

Meeting called to order at 2:10 PM at Marysville City Hall by Pat Keegan.  He introduced the new officers for the 2010 year.   President Alicia Keegan then introduced Travis Boley, Association Manager from National OCTA headquarters.  Travis discussed the national OCTA membership both in chapters and national activities.   There are now 30 National Trails in the United States.   He told of National OCTA efforts to expand public awareness and the mutual interests of our history.

 

Motion to approve the November minutes as distributed by email was made by Arleta M. and seconded by Don C.  Motion carried

 

Treasurer Arleta presented a balance of last report of $8433.77.   Present Balance of $8502.11.

 

Alicia reported the Kanza Board of Directors had approved paying the expenses for president Alicia to attend the National Midyear OCTA Board Meeting in Independance, Mo March 4 through 6, 2010.   After some discussion of the coming years meetings, times, and places, Arleta M. moved and seconded by Don C to allow up to $50 for the costs of a meeting room, if need be.   We will leave as 11 meetings a year and move them to a different location within our chapter area.  Motion carried.

 

2010 National OCTA Convention:   Elko, Nv.

2011 National OCTA Convention:   Rock Springs Wy.

2012 National OCTA Convention:   near Independance, Mo.

 

New Business:

The Kansas Sampler Festival will be in Leavenworth, this year.  OCTA will have a booth and display brochures there. The Wamego Mueseum would like to display OCTA brochures also if they are available.

 

Jim Coder will be our newsletter editor for 2010 and we plan to leave the publication to 4 times per year.

 

It was moved by Arleta M. and second by Duane D. to only keep 2 years of chapter records on hand and 7 years of Treasury records on hand.  Other chapter activities and correspondance will be archived in Independance, Mo.

 

Next meeting will be February 14, 2010, 12:00 Noon at Blue Rapids.  Men are to bring a covered dish.

 

Motion for adjournment by Mary W. and second by Arleta M.  Motion carried 3:35 PM.
