Nancy Pickard

Nancy Pickard reveals the funny, the scary, the strange, the inspiring, and the truth about surviving three decades of publishing.

Nancy Pickard is the author of three popular mystery series, dozens of short stories, and the co-author of Seven Steps on the Writer's Path, a non-fiction book of advice for writers. Her novel, Three recent books by Nancy PickardThe Virgin of Small Plains, was a Kansas Notable Book and the Kansas Reads Book for 2009. She is a four-time Edgar Award nominee, and the winner of multiple Agatha and Macavity awards. She has also won the Shamus, Barry, and Thorpe Menn Awards. Pickard is a former board member of the Mystery Writers of America and a founding member and past president of Sisters In Crime. Her latest novel, The Scent of Rain and Lightning, is set in west-central Kansas. She is currently writing her third “Kansas” book, to be set in the southeast part of the state, and is publishing a daily writer's journal about it on Facebook. She lives in Merriam, Kansas.
