Judge:
Eric McHenry, Assistant professor of English at Washburn University. Eric holds a B.A. from Beloit College and an M.A. from Boston University. His book of poems, Potscrubber Lullabies (Waywiser Press, 2006), won the Kate Tufts Discovery Award and was a finalist for the Washington State Book Award.

Judge:
Caryn Mirriam-Goldberg, 2009-2011 Poet Laureate of Kansas. She is the Coordinator of Individualized MA/Transformative Language Arts at Goddard College.

Judge:
Marlys Cervantes, Department Chairman for Humanities, Cowley College, Arkansas City Kansas. She received her BA in English and MA in Literature from Oklahoma State University.

Judge:
Dr. Stephen Meats, Interim Dean of College of Arts & Sciences, Pittsburg State University. He holds a BA, MA, PhD from the University of South Carolina and publications include Looking for the Pale Eagle (1993); ed., Revolutionary War Novels of William Gilmore Simms, 8 vols. (1979); ed., Writings of Benjamin F. Perry, 3 vols. (1980); and articles/poetry/short stories/book reviews. He is also the poetry editor for The Midwest Quarterly.

Judge:
Annie Wilson, rancher in Chase County and teacher of writing and literature at Emporia High School. She enjoys writing poetry and music about life in the Flint Hills. Annie performs with three other musicians as the Tallgrass Express String Band. Their third CD, Clean Curve of Hill Against Sky, was released in 2010.

Judge:
Stacy Lierz-Ziegler has BAs in elementary and English education and a MA in secondary curriculum/instruction from Kansas State University. From 1998-2005 she was employed by the Kansas Dept. of Education as the writing consultant for the state of Kansas, since returning to the classroom to teach American history and English at Seaman Middle School, Topeka.

Judge:
Steven Hind has masters degrees from Emporia State University and the University of Kansas. He taught writing and literature at Topeka High School and Hutchinson Community College. His poetry collections include Familiar Ground , That Trick of Silence , In a Place With No Map , and The Loose Change of Wonder , which was selected as a Kansas Notable Book in 2007.
