All convention meals, Saturday lunch, Saturday evening banquet, and Sunday lunch will be served in the Emerald Room at the Capitol Plaza Hotel. These meals are included in the registration price for the full convention.
Meals are also priced separately, if desired, on the Convention Registration form. Please mail this form with payment. Vegetarian meals may be requested when meal registration is made. Meal registrations are needed by Tuesday, October 19.
Saturday Lunch, at 12:00 noon, program includes music by singer/guitarist/songwriter Rick Bruner and noted Kansas author Don Coldsmith as featured speaker. Coldsmith will sign books, including some out of print, before and after lunch. Door prizes: your chance to win a book by a Kansas Authors Club member. $15.00.
Saturday Evening Awards Banquet, 6:00-8:00 p.m., program includes the Highland Park High School Choralaires, directed by Mark Comacho, instrumental music by Jenith Hoover and Melanie Wambsganns, presentation of our most prestigious awards, and A Meeting of Minds. This highlight of our celebration will feature Fred Krebs as William Allen White, joined on the panel by Margaret Hill McCarter and Eugene Fitch Ware. Twenty-four early Kansas authors from the past (including four governors of Kansas) will be on hand to respond to the panel and converse with diners in character. $25.00.
Sunday Lunch, 12:15 p.m. Music by champion fiddler Buster Jenkins and wife Betty. Lunch served at 12:30 p.m. Doris Schroeder, President, will speak on "Our Second Century." Door prizes. Literary contest awards presented following lunch. $15.00.
