Bi-folkal Kits
Each kit is designed to stimulate the memories and communication skills of older adults. Multi-sensory activities are encouraged through the use of slides, videos or both, cassette
tapes, large print booklets of sing-along songs, poetry and photographs, activity guides, skits, objects, shapes, textures or scents; all reminiscent of a selected theme. Check
availability of these by contacting your regional library system.
Department on Aging
Their mission is to serve "all Kansas Seniors by using public and private resources to improve their security, dignity and independence". This site contains many useful links
including contacts for Local Area Agencies on Aging, links of interest to seniors, annual Elder Count (statistics by county), and information on the Governor's Conference on Aging.
Talking Books
This federal/state funded program provides free library services to any Kansas resident that is unable to handle standard print formats. Cooperative services between Talking Books
and the public library are encouraged.
