Stories from Marshall County, Kansas.  Compiled from Oretha Ruetti's long-running newspaper column in the Marysville Advocate, "It Happened Here." Mrs. Ruetti and the Advocate have granted the Society rights to all proceeds from sale of this book. The book contains about a third of the nearly 1,500 columns Mrs. Ruetti has written since 1977 - over 400 pages of the best of her writings on the people, places, activities and history of Marshall County, Kansas. The book has photographs, maps, and a comprehensive index.

About the author:  Born on a farm southeast of Marysville, Kansas, Oretha Oble Ruetti attended country grade school and Marysville High School, graduating in 1935. Her experiences as a rural schoolteacher, farm wife and lifelong Marshall County resident are all reflected in her columns. Her wide range of topics, skill in interviewing and careful historical research have made "It Happened Here" one of the most popular features in the Marysville Advocate.
